The first of a series inspired by verses in the bible. I have always been encouraged by Psalm 17 v8 “Keep me as the apple of your eye, hide me in the shadow of your wings” and Isaiah 40:31 “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
I wanted to paint an Eastern Imperial Eagle as they are probably the eagles that were seen by King David and so large that the shadow of their wings would be an inspiring sight. However, I couldn’t find a suitable photo to study so ended up painting the popular Bald Eagle. This is painted on a more expensive linen canvas with a quality frame.
