Painting inspired by an online tutorial by a well known American oil paint artist. The scene bar the dark hills in the background remind me so much of the open spaces and stands of birch trees found in the New Forest near where we live. I love painting birch trees as their bark is so recognisable and contrasting. The water in the foreground almost feels like a hole showing a contrasting blue sky beneath the landscape.
